Ozone

— The Power of Oxygen

Ozone is naturally generated when ultraviolet light from the sun hits our atmosphere and splits oxygen molecules. Some of those oxygen molecules recombine into 3 molecules of oxygen, or ozone. This forms the ozone layer in our atmosphere, which protects us from harmful UV radiation. About 10% of the ozone created is from the Catatumbo Lightning Storms in Venezuela. When lightning strikes oxygen, it creates ozone.

Ozone therapy has been used in medicine for well over 30 years. It is quite commonplace in Europe. In 1896, Nikola Tesla patented his first ozone machine. Today, we similarly generate ozone by converting pure oxygen, which is O2, to O3, which is ozone.

Oxygen is life-giving and the lack of oxygen causes disease, aging, and mortality. There are many things that decrease our cells’ utilization of oxygen. Nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, poor sleep, infections, toxicities, stress, and inflammation are some of the things that cause our cells to utilize less oxygen. Ozone therapy can help mitigate the ill effects of decreased cellular oxygen and promote healing, wellness, and optimal health.

Ozone has phenomenal regenerative properties once it is inside the body. We can use multiple methods to introduce ozone into the body. One of the most common and systemic methods is Major Auto-Hemotherapy (MAH). During this process, the patient’s blood is withdrawn into a chamber, the blood is ozonated, and then returned to the patient’s body. This can be repeated up to 10 times, also known as “10 pass”.

Ozone can also be insufflated through tubing or catheters into the ears, sinuses, intestines, or bladder. In this way, we can treat acute and chronic infections and other illnesses.

Musculoskeletal injuries and scars are major areas where ozone is used. Intra-articular, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections of ozone can be used to treat injured muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. The healing properties of this miraculous gas function to decrease pain and inflammation and promote the healing and regeneration of tissues.
