Dr. Tammara Beeghly, Ph.D., M.M.S., PA-C
— Functional Medicine
Tammara has always had a passion for health and wellness. Growing up with three brothers set the foundation for playing sports as a child and participating in athletics in school. Family dinners with nutritious home-cooked meals were the catalyst to seek good nutrition. Her life experiences served as a springboard into the health club industry. In its early years, Tammara was a partner as a health club owner in the 1980s and 1990s. Tammara came up through the ranks of the fitness industry as an aerobics instructor, personal and group fitness trainer, and lifestyle and weight management consultant.
While raising her two children, she completed her undergraduate degree in pre-medicine, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She went on to Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, and completed a Master of Medical Science and Physician Assistant Studies Degree. As a practicing physician assistant for over eighteen years, Tammara has worked in multiple specialties including Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, and Internal Medicine, before opening her own practice, the Center for Health & Wellness, in 2007.
At the Center for Health & Wellness, Tammara’s true passion to discover the cause of patients’ illnesses incorporates conventional medicine, functional medicine, anti-aging and regenerative medicine, nutrition, and genetics. Using multiple modalities and personalizing each treatment plan to fit each individual patient is the foundational approach that Tammara uses to get her patients well.
In 2013, Tammara decided to pursue a Ph.D. degree. After much vetting, she was invited to apply to the College of Science in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After six and a half years, while working in 2 research labs and maintaining her clinical practice, she received her Doctorate in Cellular and Molecular Biology in December of 2019.
Obtaining an advanced science degree has given Tammara a level of knowledge that puts her at the top of her field. It has proven invaluable in order to practice medicine in the realm of a fast-paced scientific community. The rapid changes in medicine and science are occurring not only with what we can obviously see but more importantly, changes occurring on the molecular level that we cannot outwardly visualize. Tammara has the knowledge to work on that intangible molecular level in order to take patients to the pinnacle of health and wellness.
Additionally, Tammara’s vast experience and knowledge allows her to write, speak and consult about various areas of science and medicine and continue to stay on the cutting edge of an ever-changing field.
